What We Doing? is a short film shot in London, United Kingdom in winter 2023 written and directed by John Yusef. On this project I took on the role of First Assistant Director and assisted with over 100+ extras and managed a crew of 20.

I stood by John as budgetary and scheduling issues arose during the course of our pre-production days.

The film was completed summer of 2023 and began its festival run, starting off with NAHEMI's Eat Our Shorts festival this past winter. Watch the trailer here:

Meeting with the Director

John wanted to keep a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere on set
Worked on building rapport and scheduled practice shoot days before filming began

Shoot Days

Faced miscommunication and technical malfunctions that had to be resolved overnight through replacements and re-budgeting
The set was one big 'playground'

Scheduling and Budget

Shot over three consecutive days
One day included a cast of 100 extras
Maintained budget of 9.000 GBP
Drew up risk assessment, contracts and permits

Post Production Management

Ensured proper DIT workflow after every wrap of the day
Hired sound designer/colorist within budget limiations
Finalised paperwork for the film's release
