Basecamp was an NGO created by young Lebanese activists the day after the August 4th explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. It started out under a tent providing food and medical essentials. Soon after, Basecamp needed to expand its network and gather donations. Social media became an essential tool.

As a team of three, we set out to the most affected areas in the city and photographed disastrous scenes caused by the blast. Finding victim testimonies was an easy task as Basecamp was also in charge of household repairs. For six months, me and my colleagues interviewed men and women from around the city who wanted to share their stories. I filmed and edited 4 short videos for the NGO aimed at gathering international donations to keep the effort of pro bono work afloat.
